UPDATE 9.12 pm IST (3.42 pm GMT) – Big news coming from the ground as we will have a swift restart at 9.20 pm IST (3.50 pm GMT). No overs lost either, which is excellent news, so, grab a cup of coffee and get back quickly for all the action.
UPDATE 9.01 pm IST (3.31 pm GMT) – Just when it looked like we were getting closer to the restart, the drizzle is back and even though it is light, the covers are coming back on as well. It’s been that kind of a game but let’s not lose hope just yet. Stay tuned as we bring you the latest updates from the ground. And about five minutes later, the covers come off once again. Frustrating for the ground staff but good news for the fans and players. Let’s hope we get a restart soon as the umpires are also out having an inspection.
UPDATE 8.32 pm IST (3.02 pm GMT) – Nothing much to report from the ground as it is still raining in Colombo and the covers are firmly on. However, the cut-off time is 12 am IST which means even if the rain persists for a prolonged period we might get a chance of getting those required 20 overs to constitute the game. If that happens, Pakistan would need 200 to win which from 44 runs in 11 overs would be a near impossible task. But, that is the worst-case scenario, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves and hope that the rain goes away soon. Stick around for more updates. Just a few minutes later, the rain has stopped and a few of the covers are being peeled off which is excellent news.
UPDATE 8.09 pm IST (2.39 pm GMT) – Oh, no! The covers are coming on. There is a bit of a drizzle and the umpires are taking the players off the field. Slowly but surely, it is getting a bit heavier as well. Another unwanted break in play but all we can do is wait. Stay tuned for further updates.
10.6 overs (1 Run) Fuller and on off. Mohammad Rizwan comes forward and drives it towards covers for a single to end the over.
10.5 overs (0 Run) On a length and swinging away from around the top of the off stump. Mohammad Rizwan tries to play it close to the body but seems to have missed the connection. The keeper and the bowler appeal but the umpire has turned it down. Rohit Sharma has gone for the review at the last second and the UltraEdge shows a flat line. The ball tracking confirms that the impact is outside the line of the off stump and India lose both their reviews.
Mohammad Rizwan walks in at number 4.
10.4 overs (0 Run) OUT! TIMBER! What a ball from Hardik Pandya. He bowls this fuller and swinging in onto the off stump. Babar Azam was left confused by the ball as he put his bat forth trying to drive it on the off side. The ball goes through the gate and smashes into the stumps and Hardik Pandya has got the big wicket of the number 1 batter in ODI cricket right now. Pakistan are looking in trouble now.
