No matter which part of the world he is playing in, he is always going to have an army of fans around him – such is the aura of Virat Kohli. The former India captain is currently in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023 where he recently delighted his admirers with a remarkable century against arch-rivals Pakistan, helping India to register their biggest win in the ODIs. The men in blue have qualified for the finals and are gearing up for their last Super Four clash against Bangladesh on Friday. Ahead of the game, Kohli met one of his fans at the team hotel in Colombo and received a handmade painting from her.

Virat on a roll in Asia Cup
Kohli’s knock against Pakistan will be remembered for ages. Not just the hundred but his record 233-run partnership with KL Rahul for the third wicket. The 34-year-old ace India batter scored an unbeaten 122 of 94 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 9 boundaries. It was his 47th ODI hundred and now, he is just 3 tons away from equalling master blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 49 hundreds in the 50-over format.
“Today, KL got a great start and my job was just to rotate strike. I take a lot of pride in trying to push for easy runs, pushing for a double is as easy as they come,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation.
“Great partnership and good signs for Indian cricket. Very happy for him to come back to ODI cricket in that manner,” he added.
India in the finals
India stormed into the final of the Asia Cup 2023 after defeating Sri Lana by 41 runs in a low-scoring affair. The second finalist of the ongoing continental event will be decided on Thursday as the winner of the Sri Lanka vs Pakistan clash will advance to the final and meet India on Sunday in Colombo.
